Loose joint hinges are those consisting of two leaves, with one leaf retaining the attachment hole through which the pin, (which is permanently affixed to the opposite leaf,) thereby slides. The main benefit to this design is that the hinges can be separated as needed without un-fastening them from the door itself. This capability of separation makes mounting these hinges no problem at all in special mounting situations such as where welding is required.
